For when peaches are ripe, or even better, over-ripe, and basil is abundant. A simple smoothie that tastes like summer.
While you could, of course, sub frozen peaches for fresh, I don’t recommend it here, unless you’ve frozen your own ripe peaches. I haven’t found a frozen peach from the grocery store that was sweet and assertive enough to stand up to the bossy basil. I like to throw in a handful of spinach as well – it seriously ups the nutrition ante, without changing the flavor. The only downside is you lose the pretty peachy-rose color, and end up with a very tasty – but undeniably green – smoothie.
